Trey woke up abruptly and looked around blearily with a few moments of disorientation. "Shit. I fell asleep." The lights in the Business Class cabin were dimmed and passengers seemed well settled in for the long-haul to Australia, some were even eating and enjoying drinks. "Jeezus, how long was I out?" he asked Ash who was seated beside him, laptop open in front of him with a pile of legal files and a yellow legal pad with scrawled notes sitting on top beside it.

He tried to discreetly swipe the corner of his mouth with the back of his hand to make sure he wasn't drooling and sat up, stretching. Once they were boarded and had their seats, he made the mistake of resting his eyes for a bit while they waited to take off when he could get his own laptop out to catch up on some work but apparently he must've crashed out instead. It was a later flight and they hadn't boarded until nearly 10pm but he was usually more of a night owl than this. Hell, he used to pull all-nighters at gay bars and rock up to work by 9am the following morning rearing to go in the courtroom. That was when he noticed a flight pillow had tumbled over his shoulder to his lap, where there was also a flight blanket tucked neatly around his waist, and Ash was scrutinising him closely.

"I'm okay. I'm fine. It's not a migraine, I promise. Did you...?" He tugged at the edge of the blanket, raising his eyebrows in surprise.

Trey didn't even realise he had fallen asleep in the middle of rewatching some episodes of House MD until there was a knock on his bedroom door that woke him. He had been hoping to go back to work that morning but he still hadn't been feeling well into the night and the head pain persisted. He had been forced to call in sick about five that morning when the light in the bathroom when he went to use it nearly made him throw up again. His body was telling him he needed to rest and wait the rest of this out.

The bedroom door cracked open a little bit and Kyan stuck his head in. "You awake, T? You've got a visitor. They know you might not be up to it, though."

Trey propped himself up on his elbow, rubbing a hand over his um. "M'wake. Just, um... who'sit?" His voice was croaky so he reached for his glass of water to take a sip but when Kyan stepped aside and revealed who the visitor was, Trey nearly nearly dropped the glass. He hastily pushed it back on the nightstand, getting away with sloshing only a few droplets on his t-shirt. "Ash-- what are you...? Shouldn't you be in court? Shit. Sorry. M'a fucking mess." He tried to brush some of the creases out of his t-shirt and pull himself up on his pillows a little more but he still got a few little aftershocks of wooziness moving too abruptly.

Kyan's day had been stupidly busy and it was hard to keep his head in the game, all things considered. He smashed out a training session with Sawyer, had meetings his manager and Caden, did a radio interview and somehow managed to discreetly dodge questions about Justin, and still did the grocery shopping so they didn't run out of toilet paper and put a load of laundry on when he got home. He even managed to duck home before lunch when Reecy decided she needed an impromptu stress relief session and he realised if she was going to be that horny for the entire pregnancy, he was going to need to invest in Red Bull shares.

Once he sat down at the kitchen table to wait for the kettle to boil and the laundry to finish, it hit him again how incredible his and Reecy's surprise was. It was a lot to process because he and Reecy had talked about this stuff a lot before they even decided to get married. She had been honest with him that she didn't want to ever face another pregnancy. She had been planning on trying to adopt herself, a child that really needed the help and that would be harder to place because of their challenges. It had been something he had been all-in with her on and they decided to do it together. Having biological children hadn't been an important factor for him. He would never want the love of his life to go through something so distressing if she couldn't face it. But this was 100% a surprise and not at all planned. It was a lot to process because his main priority was protecting Reecy and making sure she was okay with all this while they adjusted to the life curveball but he was glad she was okay with him telling Trey. He never wanted to keep anymore secrets from his twin when he had to hide the reality that their mom asked him to help her with assisted dying.

He grabbed his phone so he could shoot Trey a text. He would be lying that, despite the fact it was a lot to process and it would take some time to get used to the news, he was freaking over the moon and wanted to tell Trey as soon as possible.

Hey bud, when do u think u'll be home from work 2night? Really need to talk to you about sumthing

I don't think I can not tell Trey, beautiful. I've seen him once and I was almost saying 'baby' every second word out of my mouth. Not a good look when I've had absolutely no sleep. Remind me to never volunteer for a teen benefit on a work night again. They still all wished I was Justin. Johnny Castle <<<< Ren McCormack.

It took Kyan six attempts to get dressed and leave the house. He felt like absolute hell and was pretty sure he hadn't had a hangover this bad since the first time he and Reecy slept together in Colorado. At least then he knew why he had hit the booze. This time, he had no recollection of being with Trey at all so he knew it had to have been some hard shit he was drinking. If shit had gone really bad with Autumn, it would have made sense. The fact Reecy said Trey was in a vile mood meant the drinking was unlikely because of anything to do with Kyan and something pretty intense for Trey.

Despite Reecy's insistence he stay at home and sleep it off (even if she knew it was unlikely), he couldn't rest without giving his brother a good bitching out and demanding to know what the hell was going on. Trey was in a meeting when Kyan arrived at his work probably looking like shit in his worn jeans, DC comics t-shirt, extensively loved Converse and dark sunglasses. Thankfully, Trey's secretary knew him well so had no issues letting him sit in Trey's office and wait. She even pulled the blinds for him so the morning sun didn't laser a hole in his very hungover brain.

He made the mistake of leaning over to rest his arm on the front of Trey's desk and planned to just reat his face into the crook of it while he waited... and promptly fell asleep, completely with snoring, which he only ever did when he was congested or hungover.

Reecy was in the kitchen in her slippers and Kyan's bathrobe, the kettle boiling while she was texting with Justin. In an apartment with two Broadway actors, a Broadway musical producers, and a workaholic attorney, there was never really early nights in their place unless someone was sick and forced into bed. Tonight, apparently Trey had something he wanted to talk to them all about, but he was the last one home.

Brendan headed home with Kyan and Reecy after they finished with Stage Door, but got stuck on a business call when they were getting home. Reecy took a shower and Kyan jumped in after her. While she waited for all the boys to get their shit together, she decided to make tea and call up for a pizza, a bit of a late evening snack in case Trey had done that thing where he worked through lunch and forgot what food was. Whether they liked it or not, she took care of all three of the boys, even if she was only married to one. The one she was beyond convinced was the love of her life, a concept she had been doubting actually existed when she realised he was right under her nose the whole time. Some days, it was still hard to believe that she was happily married, that some how, by some miracle, she really pulled it off.

Despite the fact it had been a busy as fuck week of fifteen hour days and little sleep, Trey and his team had just won a massive ongoing case that had been touch and go for a little while in the middle of the trial. He was looking forward to some quality time with Brendan and sleeping for a week straight. He had gotten back from court to a message that Mark wanted to meet with him and a time after lunch had been scheduled in his diary. It was common practice for the bosses to be able to slot in any vital meetings to vacant gaps in the junior associates’ diaries. The thing was, Mark rarely did it, and if he did, it was usually extremely important.

And as usual, Mark had an open-door policy, until he was in a meeting or dealing with personal family stuff. It was the first week he had been back at work since Justin massive relapse, and he was only back part-time. Trey was surprised Mark even had time to squeeze him in, no matter what the reason. He knocked on the door frame, legal pad under his arm. “You wanted to see me, boss?”

“Yeah, mate. Come in, take a seat. Close the door behind you. I’ve got something I want to run by you. I apologise in advance if my cell phone rings. Everything’s just a bit on-edge with Jus right now. So far, so good, though.” Mark finished off the email he was writing on his laptop and then closed it over. “I’ve got coffee coming, but I wanted to get started in case I do get called away.”

Trey nodded and took a seat on the other side of Mark’s desk... )

Kyan took Reecy’s advice and asked Trey to come chill out with a few drinks that night so they could talk. Neither of them would ultimately touch booze. Trey was allergic to alcohol and Kyan was pretty sure he never wanted to get even slightly tipsy himself again after the Denver fail. Trey had the day off so they decided to get an early dinner at The Bondi, which was a generous plate of nachos for two sitting on the booth table they were sharing. “So, I wanted to talk to you about something, which I should’ve talked to you about sooner, but I was nervous how everyone might react…”

Trey spent most of his day off asleep. Brendan had worked late the night before, so he stayed up waiting for him. Which meant they didn’t get to sleep until the early hours of the morning because they had a very healthy sex life. Always had. They might sometimes literally go without food or sleep in favour or sex, and Trey had absolutely no complaints about that. He was plowing into the nachos because he was starving, nodded as he chewed. He washed the mouthful away with a swig of Dr Pepper. “The chick you’re seeing? I don’t know why you thought you had to keep it quiet from me. I’m not going to tell anyone. I’m not going to judge you either. You haven’t been happy in a really long time, and if she makes you happy, then… I’d be happy with you, you know? Unless she hurts you, then she can fucking go get eaten by a shark in a vat of acid. Do you know how hard it’s been for me to hold back and not stick my nose in your business?”

Kyan was watching Trey closely, absentmindedly poking at his side of the nachos with a corn chip... )

Kyan’s biggest battle right now was simply to feel well. His stomach had a constant knot of tension in it, he had no appetite, he felt exhausted and just plain shit. The bender left him with a lingering hangover. But he had never dealt well with stress. It always came out in a somatic way, making him feel ill and suffocated. Life had taken a plunge into something he didn’t like. He wasn’t happy anymore and he knew that trying to pretend it was still… anything was foolish. He had to face it, and he had to tackle that hurdle and begin to heal. Because he didn’t have the energy to maintain it. This wasn’t who he was, and it was the last place his mom would ever want him to end up.

After arriving back home - his old home he shared with Trey that he had now moved back into - he was so hungover and in a foul mood, he went to bed and promptly crashed out again. He knew Trey would be worried because he hadn’t told him anything about his trip to Denver and he had been in too much of a pissy mood when he got home for Trey to try too hard to engage him. Brendan completely steered clear and when Kyan crawled into bed fully clothed still with his shoes on, Trey opened the door a little and told him to let him know if he wanted to talk.

Kyan woke up around two am with a mouth so dry, there was a moment of panic when it felt like he couldn’t get it open. He was still feeling like shit... )

Who: Justin Campbell, Kyan Wilson and everyone else at the Dirty Dancing opening night party
What: PARTY HARD
Where: Broadway, NYC
When: Saturday night

It was all about the understudies tonight with Caden arranging for the entire Footloose main cast to be able to be there for the opening night of Dirty Dancing. There was no doubt about it that they all had to be there to support Kyan, and wouldn't have missed it for the world. They were over the moon for him, and so proud. It went without saying - Kyan nailed the role of Johnny Castle. It had been a sell-out audience, and the standing ovation was totally deserved. Justin was bursting with pride. Kyan used to be his understudy, and despite a blip in the system with them in the early days, Justin couldn't be more proud of his friend now. It was clear why Caden 100% wanted Kyan for the role. He was the new Johnny Castle.

Needless to say, the after party was buzzing with excited guests before any of the actors and actresses from Caden's shows arrived. They had media and press obligations to see to before they could make it to the party, but they did eventually get there. The understudies from Footloose, Cinderella, and Grease would be able to come to the party once their own shows were done for the night. When Kyan and Louise arrived, with their supporting cast (including Skylar) arrived, it was time to really get the party started. Justin had ditched his expensive designer suit he had worn to the theatre for something more comfortable, and he came out to kick off the main party by getting everyone pumped singing Love Shack with Reecy and demanding everyone get up to dance.

Who: Brendan Drake and Trey Wilson
What: Those three words
Where: Surgical Unit, Mount Sinai
When: After THIS

There was just absolutely no way Brendan could stomach the hospital coffee. He had given it three attempts, but he couldn't do it to himself. He wanted real coffee or real tea, so with Trey asleep, he had taken a quick trip to a nearby coffee shop and got a cup of real tea. That made him feel much better than coffee. He wasn't generally a huge coffee drinker. Born and bred an Englishman, tea was his preference, but he had needed a bit of a boost after being up since around 2.30am when Kyan had called him to tell him Trey was really sick and needed to go to the hospital.

At that point, they didn't know it was appendix. Kyan had said Trey was burning up and he couldn't stop being sick. Apparently he wasn't all that different to when he had the first allergic reaction to booze, but Kyan insisted Trey wouldn't have been drinking. Brendan knew Trey had been feeling sick. Trey had sent him a text the morning before and told him he wasn't feeling well. Brendan had work scheduled, but promised to drop by to see Trey afterwards. When he had gotten there, Kyan had told him Trey was sleeping, so Brendan didn't want to bother him.

He hadn't seen any of this coming, but there was no doubt he was going to get out of bed and meet them at the hospital. By the time Trey was being seen in the ER, his appendix had ruptured and he was rushed into emergency surgery. Turned out that once they were inside, they found it was a pretty nasty infection that had gotten into his belly and it was why he had been really sick. He would be in hospital for around a week while he was given a heavy cocktail of antibiotics and kept a close eye on him. Infections like that could turn to septicaemia.

Coming back with his tea, Brendan found Trey awake and he gave him a small, sympathetic smile. "Hey, you're awake this time," he murmured and came over to Trey to analyse more closely how he was doing. "How are you feeling? I would say you look better than you did last night, but not so much with that just yet."

Trey would come to be extremely grateful of the fact his twin brother could be a stubborn bitch on the protective and TLC front. He hadn't been feeling well for a couple of days. At first, he just thought it was the whole rollercoaster of death, satan and destruction at Six Flags. He had forgone his weekend sleep-in to go to the theme park with the others, and he was glad he did, because he and Brendan had a ball. Save for the rollercoaster bit. Brendan had been such a sweetheart when that happened. Trey had fallen hard, he just could not deny that.

But after that, he didn't really go back to feeling fine... )

Who: Brendan Drake and Trey Wilson
What: Deep & Meaningfuls
Where: Trey and Kyan's apartment
When: After THIS

There was nothing in Brendan's schedule that day that couldn't be cancelled or postponed. He was busy most days, but a lot of it was just work experience, mentoring, or writing his own music for other performers. But if Trey was feeling upset because Kyan was upset, there was no doubt he was going over there to talk. Trey seemed like he needed to talk about some stuff, though Brendan knew that no matter how much you wanted to talk sometimes, didn't always means you could manage it easily when push came to shove.

He let his uncle know he would be gone for the day, and might not come home that night. Caden didn't, at all, keep him under the thumb. He was an adult and made his own choices, but he did ask soon after Brendan came to New York that he could just keep him informed where he was so he wasn't worrying if he was okay. A city like this, knowing people who had been seriously hurt by awful things, it was more than a fair request to make and Brendan had always honoured it.

He stopped off at a nearby deli and got him and Trey a couple of frappes. It was a hot day, a hot coffee wouldn't cut it. He was worried about Trey, because they had spoken a little and Trey admitted he hadn't dealt well with his mother's death. But other than that, Trey seemed to be a head-down-bum-up hard worker. Though, in Brendan's experience, that could mean he was trying to stay busy and distracted. With the cup tray in one hand, he took his phone out of his pocket and sent Trey a text to let him know he was here. That way, he didn't have to ring a buzzer that might wake Kyan up if he had gone back to bed. Either way, Brendan just enjoyed Trey's company. It was a bolt out of the blue, but it felt right.

"Either you decide to stay in the shallow end of the pool or you go out in the ocean." - Christopher Reeve

That moment of disorientation when you woke up in someone else's bed was completely foreign to Brendan. Waking up in someone else's bed naked was a new experience and his hazy mind took a few moments for him to realise where he was and why he was naked. He didn't even sleep naked alone, and that was the first thing he realised when he woke and scrambled to prop himself up on his elbow to wave through the confusion. He was naked, the bed was facing the wrong way, there was a streak of light coming in from between the curtains of a window that wasn't supposed to be right at the end of the bed.

That was because he wasn't in his own bed naked, and he wasn't alone... )

Who: Trey Wilson and Brendan Drake
What: The joys of a having an introvert twin
Where: Broadway, NYC
When: Saturday afternoon

Trey had been here to this theatre on Broadway a few times in the recent months. He had been sure to catch some of the shows when Kyan had stepped up into the lead shoes, and fuck, was he proud of his brother. He spent the whole time just grinning because that was his twin up there, the dude he shared a uterus with and many other things since then. There was no way Trey could be prouder. And, indeed, it was said twin who had him arriving there by cab that afternoon after spending the morning at the law firm's office working with Ash, Dani, and Curtis on Justin's defence for court. Kyan told him he had a meeting with Caden and they could catch up for coffee afterwards.

What his twin failed to tell him was that the meeting with his boss wasn't at the theatre, but at Caden's home office, so here was Trey arriving to a mostly empty theatre save for what looked like some production crew up on the stage and some unseen lighting people fiddling around with the stage lights coming from above him. He was still in his work suit and pushed his Ray Bans up onto his head to see if he could spot Kyan anywhere. There was a guy standing at a piano on the stage, leaning over and writing something resting on the surface of it. Even from this distance, Trey could see he had a delicious ass. Maybe he should just stand there and take in the view for awhile.

Still, he didn't want the guy to turn around and spot him copping a perve and think he was a creeper or anything. The last thing he needed was to get arrested. Especially not on the career path he was on, and especially not in the theatre his boss' kid worked. He sauntered down the centre aisle between the rows of audience seats and cleared his throat. "'Scuse me, dude. I'm looking for Kyan. You don't know where I could find him, do you?"
