OMG, thank you so, so, SO much to all my beautiful friends! You had me bawling my eyes out just after I finished my makeup! I love you all more than I have words to express. But let me say this, every single one of you has contributed to helping me keep fighting and keep waking up and being happy to still be alive. No, I haven't had the easiest life journey, but neither have any of you. Thank you for trusting me enough to share your troubles with me, and thank you for always being there to support me with mine. Thank you for being there with fun when it stops feeling like I can have any. Thank you for knowing love and laughter are the best commodity to rescue people in this world. Thank you for existing, and letting me be your friend. This is seriously the best birthday ever, and I can't wait to get better after my surgery and give you all the biggest fucking hugs I can manage because you make life beautiful. Never change ♥

Who: The Squad! (or any adults chaperoning)
What: NYC PRIDE! Pre the Sunday Parade
Where: Under 21s Pride Celebration!
When: Saturday night
Saturday had been a day of Pride fun for the entire squad. Despite some cold feet, everyone ended up being able to come. Sasha bounced back from his migraine, and Noah even managed to convince Kip to come, the most cynical of the entire bunch. It was a massive weekend, to say the least, and Cas had the pleasure of being able to celebrate her 18th birthday in the midst of it. It wasn't without bursts of crying because she was so happy. She had literally never felt this happy in her life, and she could only thank her beautiful friends for it. Tomorrow was the parade, and Justin sprung a surprise on them all that he had arranged for all of them to be on the float with him that was celebrating the Shades of Violet/Shades of Rainbow Foundations. Cassidy never wanted to forget this weekend as long as she lived.
Now, after multiple activities, was the Under 21s Pride Party organised by Presley's company. That meant it was 100% dry, drug-free and pro-contraception (it was literally showering rainbow condoms tossed over the heads of the crowds so kids were protected if they hooked up). Justin was the starring act at the party, and he was currently up on stage singing the shit out of What's Up by 4 Non Blondes whilst playing the guitar. Sasha was up there with him, and everyone was waving their hands and singing along to all the classic lyrics. The room was buzzing with the happy and inclusive celebratory atmosphere. Cassidy waved her arms and belted out the lyrics too, with Merlin cuddling her from behind, singing along too. She turned her head with a grin and gave him a kiss. She couldn't believe she wasn't single anymore.

Who: Ali and Andrew Connor, Mark Campbell and Gen Hart
What: Long overdue double date
Where: Casa de Campbell, NYC
When: Saturday night
Things were changing, but it finally felt like they were moving in the right direction after a lot of pain and heartache. When Mark's parents offered to babysit Jamie and Jack for the night, Ali and Andrew jumped at the chance to have dinner with Mark and Gen. They were a big crazy unconventional family, and Gen just had to take the time to learn the hard way that together was better than alone. Ali still loved Gen, because she knew she made Mark happy.
And the ironic part was, Mark had done exactly the same thing Gen had done years ago when his world bottomed out from under him. Gen might not have turned to the bottle like Mark did, but he had run away and tried to bury his head in the sand when he couldn't deal with it. For awhile there, Ali truly believed her baby girl would never have her real daddy in her life. She had been so angry back then, it was easy to feel hurt and betrayed. But everyone had grown since then, especially Mark, who was now one of the best dads the world had been graced with. Ali knew this fresh start with them was because Mark empathised with Gen's bad decisions, and he wasn't holding them against her.
All the kids were away at a Pride party, and Max had jumped on board and gone along for the ride with them. Ali was glad he was getting out again. Being ill had knocked some of the light out of him for awhile, but he was back to his normal funny and bright self. Ali smiled as she brought a bottle of non-alcoholic sparkling wine to the table with the champagne flutes between her fingers. "I knew you two would eventually get your acts together. We have one very happy little girl excited about being a flower girl, you know. You're pretty much going to be Elsa v2.0, Gen. It's good to see you both content again." She sat and took Mark's hand, giving it an affectionate squeeze.
