Who: Evan Turner and Christian Casey
What: That awkward moment when...
Where: Neurological Department, Mount Sinai at first
When: A few days after this
Evan hung his stethoscope around his neck and picked up Codie’s file hanging on the end of his bed to scrawl some notes in it. The boy was awake, but only just, looking between him and the rest of Evan’s team of Registrars and Residents looped around his bed in the midst of this urgent case conference. Urgent because the adoption Social Workers would be in later that day for Codie’s final assessment before issuing their stamp of approval to make him official Sam and Lisa’s child. In the middle of juggling sitting vigil at Jace’s bedside, Evan had been working tirelessly to fast-track Codie’s case so the boy could be placed with his loving and wonderful new parents. It would be the best move for him physically and mentally and Evan truly believed he would see an improvement in Codie neurologically if they could get this convoluted and complex processes finalised.
( The Social Workers were there at the other side of Codie’s bed, one holding his hand and softly stroking his fingers. Once this was over, they would be the ones to trigger the green light for Sam and Lisa to meet Codie... )

Hey babe. How are you doing? How did you go at chemo? Wished I could've been there with you.
