Who: Justin Campbell & co
What: Rehearsing, etc.
Where: Manhattan, NYC
When: Saturday morning

As serious as Justin was about his job and professional commitments, unless he was seriously wired, generally rehearsals with him were laidback and fun. He was, after all, half Aussie, and still a teenager. He didn't really have the ability to be serious all the time. He was serious about his work with Shades of Violet, and that was what that morning's rehearsal was. They had a concert coming up in a week for Halloween, even if it wasn't on Halloween. Justin wasn't really officially Halloweening this year. There were rumours going around that he was going to stage another flash mob somewhere else in the world like he had with Thriller in Sydney, but the truth of the matter was, this concert was really only all he had the capacity to schedule in around Footloose this year. Monday, come the official Halloween date, he would probably be crashed out in his bed trying to catch up on sleep.

Presley had breakfast delivered for them at the venue and Dory was sharing herself around everyone for plenty of cuddles. Will said he wanted to come at some point, and Billy said he was coming with Ajay. Lance and Casper were sitting together at the front of the stage. Casper had Dory in his lap cuddling her, while Lance sat behind him with his legs either side of him and his arms around Casper's waist, scratching Dory behind the ears. He would have a friend for life now. She loved her ears behind scratched. Justin trusted his pup with all of his friends. She was in her element.

The only thing was, Justin was feeling like he had a tickle in his throat and he hoped like hell it wasn't a sore throat developing... )

Who: Leighton Kent and anyone who wants to join him
What: Night on the town
Where: The Bondi, Soho, NYC
When: Sunday night

Leighton picked up the schooner of beer Luke placed in front of him and held it up with a, "Cheers, mate." He, Lance and Jasper had decided to hit the bar, while Chase stayed home with Axel, who had exploded with Chicken Pox throughout the day. They had been working hard lately, poised to get back into the recording studio for their next album and, in the meantime, doing some intense charity work for Shades of Violet in Justin's absence. Leighton took that new title really seriously. He hadn't ever thought much about the charity thing before and left it up to their managers to where they performed for charity and what. Then Presley was inviting them to come on board as Ambassadors with Justin, and just seeing how much it meant to Justin made it all the more rewarding. As a result, they had been working more with the teen, which was pretty cool in itself.

But Leighton needed some chill out time, and he was going to do it with some good home-grown beer in a cool bar, and just see how the night played out. With Axel sick, it also meant he wasn't there to try to hook him up with some random chicks. Leighton still hadn't been able to tell any of his band mates that he was pretty sure deep down, he might be gay. He was still sleeping with chicks casually, but since it came to the forefront of his heart that he had deep feelings for Lance, it hadn't been feeling the same.

Lance was a whole other issue. He was Leighton's best mate in the whole world, their friendship really solidifying since they met each other with the competition. Lance had gone and fallen in love with another guy called Simon, and eloped with him without a word to anyone. It had been a huge shock to Leighton's system, and the only way they found out was when Lance had a brain aneurysm and passed out unconscious in the middle of a performance. Simon came to the hospital, and it came to light that he was Lance's husband. But the condition left Lance with a form of amnesia. He didn't remember any of his friends in the band, and didn't remember Simon, let alone marrying him. He went home to Australia with his family, and it looked like they would lose him from the band. Their future had been in the balance.

When he was away in Australia, his memory began to come back and he soon returned to them to get back in the saddle with Electricks. But he never remembered Simon or his marriage, so Simon applied for a marriage annulment and Lance never knew he had been married. Simon didn't have the heart to force himself on Lance when he didn't remember him. Technically, Lance was single, but knowing that he had been in love with Simon so much he married him, Leighton had shoved his own feelings away and convinced himself it was wrong to think about acting on it. No one knew that, inside, he was questioning his sexuality and whole identity. It lead to him brooding more than he normally would, and that was why Axel wanted to matchmake him.

Still, as he sat there at the bar alone, he found himself subtly scoping the guys in the bar that night. It was open mic night, so it was busy. There were some really hot guys there that night, but he couldn't quite push himself to act on it. He was scared what might happen if he did. He also caught himself accidentally in a lingering perve on Lance, who was dancing. He turned his head back to his beer and took a long drink.

Justin had been poised to go back to work the Sunday following his surprise birthday party. What happened was that he was in shock after having to talk Cassidy around from having a gun at her head that his return had to be delayed. He was emotionally shaken and his parents wanted him to take a bit more time to get his anxiety under control following the incident. What ended up happening was it sparked rumours all over social media that Justin himself had another suicide attempt. This was one of the pitfalls of being famous.. and having a mental illness in the public eye. He delayed his return to Footloose, so it must mean that he had tried to top himself again.

He just ignored it. Aiden had come around to meet with him to alert him to what was going down, and all Justin had done was offer a bitch glare across the table. Not aimed at Aiden, but at what he was reporting. Just had given a dismissive wave of his hand and stood up from the table. "Fuck them all. Let them keep guessing. I'm not dancing to the tune of any fans. They don't own me." Then he went away to his thinking space - sitting at his piano and not really playing. He did that a lot. Sometimes he played, other times he would just sit there and toy with the keys or the sheet music with Dory in his lap.

It meant that no one was expecting to take the stage at the charity concert... )

Who: Leighton Kent and Axel Beckett
What: Heaving and heart-to-hearts
Where: "Electricks HQ"
When: After THIS

Following at pretty epic hangover the night Leighton had seen Jasper with Alice in the bar, he swore off booze for a little while. There were rumours enough swirling around about Lance being involved with drugs, so the last thing any of them needed was more shitty falsities sticking to them. He had to get his shit together and take his balls in hand like a man and just fucking deal with this. No, it wasn't easy, and yes, it fucking hurt like a bitch, but there was nothing he could do to change it. He couldn't unmarry Lance and Simon, and he couldn't make Lance remember any of them.

But without the booze, he wasn't sleeping so hot and had been dozing on and off since he called it a night and hit the sack around 11. It was quiet in Electricks HQ, which they had come to name their modern loft apartment they all shared here in New York. They all had their own rooms (save for Axel and Chase, who shared) and they had their own space, so it worked. That night, it was emptier than usual. Jasper had a date (probably with Alice, if Leighton's suspicions were correct), Lancey was still in hospital, and Chase was out on a 'beard sighting'.

With all the hype and whispers about the guys since Lance collapsed on stage, they wanted to try to keep up the ruse as much as they could. So, Raven and Chase were staging a sighting at the hospital where they would sit around together holding hands, being noticed, and then they would check in on to a hotel room nearby together where they would be conveniently 'caught' kissing and cuddling so it would hit social media by morning. In a couple of days, Axel would do the same sort of thing with Lori and it kept that smoke screen up around the band at a time they really fucking needed the privacy.

Leighton woke abruptly from the fitful sleep after he thought he heard a noise. He reached over and flicking his bedside lamp on and listened again, figuring it was just Jasper coming home. It sounded closer than the entrance of the apartment, though, so with a frown and he pushed the covers off and got up. As soon as he got out into the hall, he knew what it was and he went across the hall to Axel and Chase's room. The room was dimly lit from the light coming out of the en suite door that was open, and he winced when he heard the unmistakable sound of puking. He found Axel sat on the floor by the toilet heaving his guts up.

"Shit, mate, you look rough." He grabbed a glass off the bathroom shelf and filled it with water for him, waiting until he was able to accept it.

Who: Jasper Cho and Leighton Kent
What: Crazy fucked up day
Where: Outside Mount Sinai
When: After THIS

It had been an awful day. They probably should have just all stayed home in bed and waited for the next morning before bothering to move. Like everyone else, Jasper was reeling and there was just too much going down to have time to process it all. There was no way he could just let Leighton bugger off alone. They were too close to fall apart at the seams at the first sign of something painful. They hadn't had to deal with anything like this has a group before, so it would be a learning curve. But the lessons could wait for another day. Everyone was hurting incredibly with the shock of Lance falling ill and collapsing on stage in the middle of a performance. The audience had been huge, and everyone had their own theory.

All the guys cared about was Lance. They were worried and scared, because this had come out of the blue. They had, of course, known that Lance had been ill throughout the course of the day. But he had also been floor with jetlag this time, so the general consensus was maybe he had picked up a bug on their trip. He was a trooper, he tried to see it through. Then he was collapsing and people were screaming. He had even stopped breathing for a brief time where Jasper had to give him CPR right there in front of the whole fucking world. No one knew what was wrong, and that was the hardest part of all.

And now this. A bolt from the blue, all of them completely blindsided. Simon had just called his husband after decking Leighton for trying to intervene and no one knew what the fuck to think. Before they could even try to figure it out, Leighton was storming out - bleeding - and even if Jasper just hung there for an epically confused few moments, he soon took off after Leighton so he couldn't get too far away alone. That wasn't what they were about. They had to stick together, so if Leighton needed to be angry and upset, Jasper wasn't going to let him do it alone. He knew Leighton and Lance were very close, the bond probably the tightest in their group (save for Axel and Chase, who were dating). Jasper wasn't surprised how upset he was.

He ignored the throngs of people, pushing through them to shoot outside after Leighton. It was risky. They could be freaking mauled. "Leighton!" he called out, seeing him moving further up the street. "Wait, we'll get a cab!"

Who: Leighton Kent with Lance Valentine, Simon Sinclair and the other Electricks guys
What: Tensions rise
Where: Emergency Department, Mount Sinai
When: After THIS

Absolute shock was the only thing Leighton and his bandmates had been able to feel up to this point. Everyone knew Lance hadn't been well before the concert. They all tried to get him to give it a miss, but he wouldn't. None of them expected things would take a horrible turn like this. They were tight, just like brothers, but there was no denying the stress of the job they did had been wearing on some of them. Lance was just the most obvious because he usually just rolled with the punches. He was the comedy relief, the one to make them laugh with a bad joke. Something had been off, and even though they had all teased him for being a moody bitch, this wasn't how it was supposed to turn out.

Drugs. Fucking drugs. Leighton wasn't going to believe it. He felt sick inside and his heart and stomach were coiled up in a tight knot of fear inside while they waited in the Emergency Room for any news of Lance. Of course they all wanted to be taken to the hospital after he was carted off in an ambulance unconscious. But it was a paparazzi nightmare. As soon as it hit social media, it was chaos and security was immediately set up around all entrances of the hospital and the ER strictly monitored to only allow patients and loved ones through whilst Lance and the group were there. The last thing any of them needed right now was to face the media or having people staring at them.

Not that it could be avoided... )

Who? Alice King and Leighton Kent
What?
Dealing with the anger
When? Later evening, the day THIS happened.
Where? The Bondi

The fight with Jake in the pharmacy section of a goddamned grocery store of all places had Alice even more on edge than ever, and she was truly beginning to hate herself for even coming here. She should've left well enough alone and just accepted that things were over for her and Jake, and she'd be in Australia right now, where she damn well belonged, and not here, in a bar in New York City that was about as close to home as she could get, and yet still left her even that much more homesick. Which somehow, after the several shots of tequila she'd pounded down in the last hour or so, made her all the more angry with Jake. If he weren't a cheating bastard, she wouldn't have ever left Australia... Even with him here in the States, she'd be at home in Sydney now, probably just waking up and getting ready for work.

She'd definitely slammed back several shots in rapid succession when she first got to the bar, but she was already slowing down on that because she didn't really want to be nursing another hangover tomorrow, and that was the most likely situation if she didn't chill out a little on the drinking. So she'd stepped back to water for the time being, even if that bottle of tequila was still calling her name... along with pretty much all the other bottles on the shelf at the moment.

It was a pretty busy night at the bar with Angel Shaw (who happened to be Jake's brother-in-law) and his opening act, a group of young (and gorgeous) Aussie's there, not for a show, but just to relax and have a good time. Electricks were definitely a well known group back home, and apparently here, too, now, but Alice wasn't going to run over to them in a fangirl frenzy. She loved their music, and like a vast majority of Aussies, she'd watched the reality show that had made them stars. But she still had no intentions of running drunk over there to get autographs or anything stupid like that. She was still too pissed off, and beyond that, Luke's bar seemed to have a pretty serious security detail to make sure things like that didn't happen in the first place.

But she did have to admit, whether she wanted to or not, that she couldn't stop herself from the occasional glance at Leighton... He was well known as a cowboy and a manwhore, but she'd thought he was fucking gorgeous since his first appearance on the show. She couldn't believe she was actually sitting here with celebrities right across the room from her.

Who: Leighton Kent and Lance Valentine
What: Jetlag's a bitch
Where: Their new bachelor pad, New York City
When: Saturday morning

Leighton wasn't much of a morning person at the best of times, but he was about a million times worse when he had no sleep the night before. It just seemed that his mood was in the red that much more when he wasn't a morning person, was jetlagged, and just when he thought he managed to doze off last night trying to get his body clock on Yank time after the long haul flight from Australia the day before, fuck central had started in the room next door to him. He was now sitting at the large island counter in the middle of the fucking huge kitchen aggressively stirring 5 sugars into the coffee he had just brewed. His long hair was all over the place from fruitless tossing and turning to try to get to sleep, even trying to shove his pillow over his head to invite some silence for his ears. Now he was just a grump and honestly, fuck Yank time. If he crashed after this coffee in the middle of the day, so be it.

They had been in New York about 24 hours now. It wasn't long enough for him to figure out if he liked it yet. It was loud and full of concrete and people rushing all over the place. It smelt funny too. It was a far cry from the station back home, but he was okay with it. He knew it would take a lot of adjusting and acclimatising to the new surroundings. Plus, this was only a base. They would see all over America soon enough, and like his mum told him when his family saw him off at the airport - it was all part of the adventure. He just would be feeling particularly celebratory about new beginnings until he could manage some decent sleep. The coffee even tasted weird. It was no Nescafe Blend 43, that's for sure. And with a couple of social things book in their schedule that coming week - meeting with Angel and his twin, a photoshoot around New York to publicise their arrival - he needed to at least try to get his body clock adjusted to the new time zone.
