Who: Mark and Sam Campbell
What: Brothers in Arms
Where: Mount Sinai, NYC
When: Morning in the wake of this

Sam and Mark had breakfast plans, but they had changed somewhere around 4am when Mark sent a text to Sam telling him to meet him at Sasha's room after his shift instead. Sam worried that something had happened with Sasha, maybe a post-op infection had developed or Justin wasn't coping as well as he had seemed to Sam. Mark just told him there was nothing to worry about, and would see him there when he finished work.

Mark was sitting outside Sasha's room in the hall, reading something on his iPad. "Hey. What's going on? What's the change of plans? Sasha okay?" He stepped over to look into the room Sasha was occupying. The blinds were drawn so the room was dim. Sasha was asleep in the bed, Justin asleep in the recliner. "What aren't you telling me?"

"Fuck. Give me a chance, Sammy. I'm not going anywhere until I know Justin's had at least a few hours sleep. Which means trying to will Sasha to stay asleep too, because Justin wants to be woken up if Sasha wakes up." As far as Mark was concerned, teenage life was fucked up. He couldn't keep up, and no matter how much you were sure things had finally settled, they managed to find whole new ways to get the shit to hit the fan. He was just the dad, and he was exhausted. One thing would never change though: he would never not be there for his kids, or anyone that was an extension of them.

"They'll just keep him loaded up on painkillers today. You probably won't have to worry about willing him to do anything, especially with the rupture and that he reacted to the anaesthetic." Sam sat, giving Mark a close scrutinizing look. "Just tell me what's happened. Did Justin have a meltdown? He was exhausted when I left him. It's not out of the question that he got taxed."

The best clothing Mark could do right now was sweat pants, an old INXS t-shirt, and a leather jacket. How he looked was the last thing he was worried about when Justin called him... )

Who: Hunter and Brody Alexander with a hint of Cruz Quinlan
What: Big Brother Mode
Where: Burlington, Vermont
When: After this

They arrived in Vermont about 10.30am. Hunter was stressed, and he couldn't shake a fear that he might find Brody severely broken. It was easy to fear the worst, and forget to stay positive in situations like this, because the bad outcomes were a very real possibility. Hunter unlocked the front door with his keys. All three boys still had their keys, and knew they could come home any time they wanted or needed. He kicked his shoes off at the door and waited while Cruz followed suit. That took a bit longer because Cruz had on knee-high Doc Martens that laced up to the top. Hey, he was a rockstar. Rockstar prerogative. "Mom?" he called out softly, heading in through the living room towards the dining room and kitchen.

Cindy Alexander came through quickly hearing the voice. "Hunter? Sweetie, what are you doing here?" she asked, the Mom Worries already in full force. She pulled her son into a hug and then kissed his cheeks, brushing her hand over his head. "What's the matter? Are you sick? Are you hurt?" As she was fussing over him, her gaze shifted in surprise to Cruz standing just behind Hunter. She recognised him, but still, she tapped into Mom Discretion. "Who's this, sweetheart?"

"It's okay, Mom. I'm okay. I'm here for Brody. I didn't want to try to explain it over the fun because it just too... I'll explain it all, but it's not good, Mom. I think someone's been hurting him," Hunter tried to explain, at least laying a bit of groundwork, albeit trying not to spook his mom right off the bat. He turned and smiled a Cruz, taking his hand. "Mom, this is Cruz. We've just started seeing each other, and yes, he's the rockstar you saw at the Grammys. Long story. Cruz, this is my mom, Cindy."

Cruz gave Mrs Alexander a hesitant smile, and held his hand out to her... )

I'm texting you, because I don't want to mess with Justin's head. Brody told me everything. Justin was right on everything, but the cutting. He didn't go through with it, but definitely high risk. I need your help. I want to take this bitch down.
