Who: Shannon Webster,
Garrett Holt and
Kip PryorWhat: Bad news travels slow
Where: Chevalier/Cole/Ashwood Place
When: After dinner, Tuesday night, after
thisShannon how no idea what Kip needed to talk to them about, but it didn't sound good. He knew if it was something good, it wouldn't have been Clint who intervened to bring them here and by telling them to leave their white knight tendencies at the door. As soon as that was said, Shannon understood. He had been there. He knew that when something bad was going on with you, people trying to save you or drown you in positive platitudes often had the very opposite of the desire affect. Often, it made you feel worse, like you were under pressure to get fixed or feel good, just so you weren't making
them feel uncomfortable. He knew what Clint was saying here. Something had gone to shit with what Kip was dealing with. He knew it from the sick worried feeling sloshing around in his gut.
He just didn't know what it could be. He hadn't see Kip since his party, and even there, Kip hadn't been in the best place. He was holding it together, but he was visibly in early stages of distress. That was why Shannon went over his to an adult he knew could help. Because he knew Kip would wall-up and try to do this as a lone soldier. Kip never used to be like this prior to Shannon's accident. He had always had that bit of a bad-boy tendency in him, but mostly he was just a laidback, simple guy. It was the accident that pushed him into this, because he didn't know how to cope with it. He found denial and escape into alcohol and drugs the only way he could cope. Shannon knew that now. And this is where that long-travelled road had taken them.
Clint had just let him in, and Garrett soon arrived too. Shannon asked after Lincoln, but Clint explained his other half 'had a really fucking bad day', so he was in bed. While Shannon sat there wishing he had Fin there for moral support, Clint went to get Kip. Shannon tried not to pee himself with anxiety about all of this, but Clint said he wasn't dying. That was a fair start. Probably not so much for Kip if he didn't want to keep living, though.
