"You're the love I wanna be in..."

Who? Kelly Jensen, Shannon Webster, and Sam Campbell
What? Paths that keep crossing
When? Monday morning
Kelly had the day off at the office for the holiday, but Shannon's doctor had been ill at the time he'd last been scheduled for a visit, so he agreed to get some people in on Memorial Day just to help make sure everyone was seen in a reasonable amount of time. He was a great doctor... a pediatrician who worked primarily with kids who had health issues or injuries like Shannon's, and he was a great young doctor. Shannon was only here for a checkup, but with his injury, it was important to keep a finger on the pulse, just to be sure everything was working as it should be. It was far too easy for him to end up in a bad way if he didn't get the checkups on a regular basis.
The downside of this particular trip was that her mom was out of town, which meant she had all three of her own kiddos in tow as well. The old adage about herding cats proved more than true when it came to her three lively sons. They were well-behaved, just very energetic, and it was a damn lucky thing that the pediatric ward had plenty of toys to distract them... if they could just get to the damn waiting room.
They were rounding the corner to the nurse's station to check in and let her know that Shannon was there to see the doctor when Kelly saw Sam, still in his scrubs, standing by a man who could only be Mark for all the looking just like Sam he was doing. And then she was standing there actually thinking that Sam looked fantastic, and debating with herself as to whether she should go over and say hello to him or not. On one hand, he was talking to his brother, who was going through hell with his son in the hospital, but on the other, Sam had been very open with her lately, and truthfully, she didn't want him to think not even for a moment, that she didn't care and wouldn't reach out to him when he was going through hell. At that point, though, Spencer escaped her hand and ran over to where Mark and Sam were standing, promptly waving hello. So much for having a chance to make the decision herself.
