Who: Katelynn Stewart and James Campbell
What: Two WTFs for the price of one
Where: FBI HQ, NYC
When: Tuesday
Kat wasn’t angry. If she was, she would have stormed into James’ office after his PA finally relented on her pestering and told her she had to at least knock before she went in. It was to Kat’s advantage it was the same PA James’ predecessor, Kenneth, had and the same one who had ruled the roost of the office when Kat had been in her prime with this department before James’ “death” and her subsequent running away to London for what she thought was forever. She wasn’t surprised James kept Maggie because was exceptional at her job and whilst she was sweet most of the time, she could be like a comic book baddie when she was passionate about protecting her staffs’ rights. She wasn’t a Special Agent herself, but she was qualified up to her eyeballs in criminal justice and had been a police detective in her early career.
She didn’t knock. She loved Maggie, but she also knew James quite possibly better than he knew himself some days. At least, she used to. Before he “died” and staged a Hollywood-level resurrection that exposed a whole other life he had been moonlighting with. Only, she didn’t get the invite to the main event. She had still been in London, miserable and alone, thinking he was dead and never coming back. Somehow, she ended up the bad guy in all this, but that was okay. She was pretty sure that was just paranoia on her part because she thought she knew James so well back then. Never had she been more wrong in her life.
( But when she discovered he was still alive and well, living in New York again, and heading their old department as a Special Agent-in-Charge, she finally found the guts to come back to see him and realised he hadn’t changed as much as she had anticipated... )
