What: The Big Day
Where: Hamilton Island, Australia
When: Saturday evening
You heard about people raving about their wedding day being the perfect day, but for Mark, a born and bred Aussie, it was just that. The weather was a perfect 27 degrees, not a single cloud in the sky as dusk began to fall. They both wanted a sunset wedding, something they discovered during one of Mark’s bad days with his recent illness and they started chatting about the wedding plans, starting to make them real. Gen had also been worrying about Paris’ ability to be in the sun too long with the chemo. Mark had always been one of the most laidback people to ever walk the earth… at least until he had a sick kid in his care. He just wanted Gen to have whatever wedding it was she wanted, whatever made her happy. For him, that was epitome of what all this was about. That his family were happy.
The breeze on the beach was just enough to be pleasant without whipping any sand around or ruining anyone’s (that probably took hours, if he had learned anything about loving a fashionista and fathering a teenage gay celebrity icon). Mark had grown up near the beach. His childhood home that his parents still owned was a stone’s throw away from one, and Bondi, Australia’s most famous beach, was a pleasant walk away. They did a lot of walking when they were kids. All the Campbell brothers had been active, sporty, surfed, and generally did anything but sit around home. They grew up in a generation that didn’t seem as dangerous as it was now. All their parents wanted to know was that they were safe, alive, not getting arrested, or not getting in the way of anyone else’s parents. They had loads of friends and unless the weather had it pissing down, they would be out in the sun in some capacity.
