Who: Mark and Justin Campbell
What: Determined to get things right
Where: Sydney Harbour
When: Wednesday afternoon

Lady Macquarie's Chair offered one of the most amazing views of Sydney Harbour. And not only were there no sharp implements, no high platforms, and no dangerous rips, it had a peaceful feeling to it. Mark had been so surprised, he nearly tripped on his own foot when Justin accepted his invite to go for a bit of a walk that evening. It was a gorgeous evening, warm, clear. Justin hadn't really been talking to anyone these past couple of days, though he also wasn't bedridden with his mood. He just didn't really want to be around anyone. He didn't hide out in the bedroom, but he sat off on his own listening to his music and doing his school work or reading. Mark tried to still dad him from afar, which mostly only involved him constantly keeping his son in his line of sight the best he could when he didn't need to be horizontal himself with the sickness and nausea he was suffering as side effects from the medication.

His mum had suggested some fresh air would do them both good, but Mark flat out refused to go near any beaches. But as she rightly pointed out, she never suggested a beach. That was just always the go-to walking spot when he was growing up. There were actually many amazing places for a walk in Sydney that were safe. Mark still wasn't feeling well, but he kept the worst of it at bay by not eating and mostly living on tea. Justin said yes, although there had been some hesitation before he answered where Mark was pinned with a silent look. It was impossible for Mark to know what was going on in Justin's head right now. That was another good reason to try to reach out to him again. If he had been rejected, so be it. He could try again another time.

It wasn't as hot that day as it had been previously. It was pleasant for a walk, and it meant Justin didn't look so out of place in his hoodie on, and sunglasses. Mark knew it was partly because he felt safe, but he did have to broach something else right up, because this was another promise he made to Justin multiple times and he wasn't going to fail on it, no matter how much distance was between them. "I just have to ask you, kiddo, if the reason you want to stay covered all the time because you're cutting again, or you just don't really want to be looked at?"

"And I can't feel this pain anymore
And I can't carry on this way
I'm hiding behind false eyes
Could be the end of the world
I'd still be laid here on my own
Wasting my life away..."
