After all this time, The Bondi is still the place to be.

I think I am simultaneously jealous of 16 year olds getting their happy on, and thinking they are adorably cute in the process of it. What is my life?

Who: Finlay Bennett and whoever else is around him at the time
What: THAT thing again
Where: The Bondi, NYC
When: Friday night

Fin knew that his dad was here somewhere. He had hooked up with his Dad Brigade at the bar shortly after they arrived. Layla had grabbed him and pulled him over to a booth to sit with her so he wasn't feeling like he should be a wallflower. Then Layla's girlfriend had surprised her in the most epic of ways, and it was awesome to have been there for that. The bar was packed. Wall to wall people, and a lot of them knew each other. Not to mention some amazing and well-known acts taking the open mic. For awhile, Fin just sat there gobsmacked by the whole thing.

Sadly, though, he started to feel dizzy. He was now sharing the booth with Skylar, Cooper, Harry, Ainsley, and Owen... the snot. Fin had parked himself right at the edge of the seat so he was as far away from Owen on the other side of the booth as he could get. They had texted, but Fin was still not overly impressed. As soon as he started to feel dizzy, he began to panic thinking he was about to get sick in front of everyone. All Dr Chester's advice flew out of his brain. He tried rubbing his hand over his face to see if maybe he was just getting a headache or the music was too loud for him. But nope, that wasn't working either. All it did was blur his vision up when he rubbed his eyes too hard.

The dizziness hit hard. The room felt like it was tipping on its side and the loud music made it worse. Without even thinking, he started to get up from the booth. He gave Ainsley a slight nudge and told him he had to get up. Ainsley moved for him and he climbed over him, but as soon as he was on his feet, he stumbled a few steps and bumped into a couple of people dancing. The music rapidly turned into a loud ringing in his ears and the sounds from the crowd became muffled behind it. He felt really bad. He needed to get out of the room, get to a bathroom, as soon as he could.

He didn't have an awareness to where he got to, especially with this being the first time he had been to this place. He made it to somewhere near the side of the stage before he completely toppled over and hit the deck. He was half on the carpeted area, half on the hard polished surface of the dancefloor... the part his head hit pretty hard when he fell. So much so that he knocked himself out, and was lying there sprawled out cold on the floor in a busy bar.

Who: Layla Morton and Finlay Bennett et al
What: Out for the count
Where: The Bondi, NYC
When: Right after THIS

Layla had spent a little time out back in Luke's office catching up with Maryanne. She was excited about introducing her to her friends, but she needed her heart to catch up with her from all the shock that Maryanne was actually here, in New York, for a full year... possibly more if she got into college here. Once they talked for a little while, she was leading Maryanne back out so she could introduce her to Will and everyone else. They just never got that far.

When they were heading back out into the bar, it was just in time for Maryanne to see Fin stumbling off the edge of the dance floor. She was trying to run up to him so she could catch him and getting him at least sitting down, but she didn't reach him in time. He looked heavily drunk, but she knew better. Before she got to him, he toppled backwards, hitting his head on the edge of the wooden dancefloor. She could see before she even got to him that he had knocked himself out or maybe he passed out first, and that was why he fell. She didn't know enough about his condition to be sure. She had seen it in action, though. The night she stayed over at his place, in the middle of the movie, he got dizzy and said he needed to lie down. But it passed and that was when she decided to sleep over and keep him company after she tucked him into bed.

"Fin!" Layla cried, crouching down at his side when she got there. Maryanne was right behind her, asking her quickly if there was anything she could do. Layla said to find Fin's dad, telling her that he was a huge guy with loads of tattoos. He would be easy to spot.

Layla was only with him a couple of moments before there were other people swooping in to help... )

Who: Walker Chester and Sawyer Bennett
What: Moral support, etc.
Where: Sawyer and Fin's home
When: Later after THIS and THIS

Walker was at The Bondi that night after coming there with Reecy after her show and Stage Door. It was one of those catch-up nights were a lot of their extended friends network ended up at the same hub together and chilled out after a long week. Karla was going with Carter, so she convinced Walker to come along for a little while too. She had an agenda, that much he knew. He just couldn't quite figure out the complexities of it. He had been intending to just go home and get a good sleep, but Reecy wanted him to come for a little while too. She was pretty sure they were both working together against him. Again, he couldn't quite figure out what they were planning.

Nevertheless, he had gone along. Sawyer had been there with Fin, and a few of the other fellow parents. Even Zoran was back on the stage, though only for a very short set. Walker was relieved that he didn't push himself. He knew what the poor kid had been through lately with Karla keeping him informed of everything. Only, it wasn't Zoran anyone ultimately needed to be concerned about. It was young Fin, who had another episode right in the middle of all the chaos on the dancefloor and open mic. Layla's young friend had come running up to Sawyer at the bar telling him to hurry because his son had just passed out.

Walker had seen Sawyer instantly pale. It was one thing to know your kid was sick, but for him have a bad turn like this in a very public place without warning, it would still make you feel sick inside. Fin had been diagnosed and Evan had updated Walker on the treatments he had commenced, though he wanted to take it slow because Fin was a kid who had very little medicinal intervention over his life. He had the childhood illnesses, but he was generally as healthy as a horse. Until now. Fin's illness was in an exacerbated state at the moment, which meant he wasn't just going to start taking a pill and be miraculously cured in a few days. A body had to adjust to a new medication, especially on a gradually increasing dose.

Fin was understandably wiped out after the episode, feeling sick and exhausted. Sawyer was visibly shaken. Walker could see he was trying to keep it together, but wasn't really managing it as much as he wished he could. He just wanted to get his kid home and in bed. Walker didn't want to see Sawyer having to deal with this on his own and neither did anyone else. That was the thing about their extended network; they were a kind-hearted and compassionate bunch. They would do anything to help anyone. Walker didn't hesitate in offering to take Sawyer and Fin home. He had his car, so it would be better than trying to shove Fin in a cab. There was no need for an ambulance.

Walker accompanied Sawyer and Fin home. Fin crashed out in the car nursing a plastic bag in case he was sick again that Haley had gotten him. When they got to the apartment block, Sawyer didn't even try to wake Fin. He carried him up to the apartment easily. Fin was a slender kid, and Sawyer was... well, the opposite. Walker promised he would take a closer look at the cut on Fin's head when they got to the apartment. He cleaned it and dressed it. It could have used a couple of stitches, but it wasn't vital. He figured Sawyer's nerves were already shot without needing to see someone stitch his kid's head up.

Now, Walker was in the kitchen making Sawyer a cup of tea to soothe his nerves while Sawyer had taken Fin to his room to get him into his pyjamas and tucked into bed. He was a little while in there. Walker wasn't sure if it was because Fin had woken up and was sick again, or if perhaps Sawyer was just sitting in there watching his kid sleep to convince himself he was okay. Walker had done the latter many times. Every decent parent would have. Soon, Sawyer came back through and Walker handed him the mug of tea. "How is he? How are you?" he asked in concern.
