It had come as a massive shock to everyone to see confirmation that Zoran had been diagnosed as HIV Positive. It wasn't like they didn't have warning. He had been up front and honest with them that first show he played with them after he was put on PEP what had happened. And it was lucky he had, because it was also the show he had walked off stage in the middle of the set and threw up all over the place backstage. It had been the start of a rapid and slippery slope for him that had culminated in the start of him revealing that Zed wasn't his real name.

None of that seemed to matter. Some people might get on their selfish high horses about being lied to and get all ass-chafed that 'Ooooo, how dare a friend LIE~'' to them. But sometimes, people had to fucking lie to take care of themselves. They had to shield and conceal. Maybe all it boiled down to was fear. Maybe the lie was easier to live than the truth. It didn't matter what or why. That was part of Zoran and, in time, they might come to know the whole story. If they didn't, then they didn't need to.

What trumped all that was Zoran's diagnosis. They had already been reeling with his sick he was, and the suicide attempt. It was the suicide attempt that told Melody there was a lot more at play here than anyone knew. If this was just a risk of a HIV diagnosis, well, Zoran was stronger than that. That wouldn't have been enough to tip him over the edge. Now it had happened, and Melody's heart was aching inside because she knew Zoran was hurting. She was seated at the bar at The Bondi and was served her first Appletini. She raised her glass to Laura sitting beside her. "To World AIDS Day," she murmured, because that had been the way Zoran had chosen to tell everyone.
