Who: Euan Fitzpatrick and Caleb Leary
What: Questions
Where: Cop Shop, NYC
When: After THIS
Euan was on the first flight out of Savannah back to New York. He had come as the liaison between Zoran's home base in NYC and where the murder took place in Savannah. He had been riding a desk for a few months now in the Captain job, so he hadn't been actively involved in any investigations except in an an advisory capacity and calling the shots on any complications that came up which Annalise needed back-up for. This case was different. For one, Julie was personally involved, so Euan was emotionally invested. Second, it involved a really emotionally and psychologically taxed young guy, so they had to be careful how they played their cards with him. And finally, Witness Protection cases meant he had to oversee anyway, so in this particular case, he was going to run the initial questioning with Witness Protection watching out of sight.
Ultimately, Zoran's safety was of utmost importance. The father was dead, he didn't matter. Who did it to the father did, and whether they were an immediate risk to Zoran. This random dude from Zoran's past who had shown up out of the blue was a suspect now. Possibly having a motive after Zoran revealed he was alive and what his father did to him. Honestly, Euan wouldn't blame the kid if he had gotten on a plane and killed the bastard in cold blood. Euan probably would have done the same thing. But would Zoran be the next victim in that case? Who knew? No one knew, and that was why they needed to tread carefully. All they needed was an alibi, but Euan wanted more if they were going to leave Zoran's welfare in this guy's hands.
A bit of poking around in Savannah with Caleb's family revealed they hadn't heard from the kid in weeks now. Which was apparently unusual, and not really going in his favour at this point. Euan wasn't just going to slap a guilty until proven innocent sticker on his forehead and be done with it. Not when the kid could be all that Zoran had left from his past.
He showed up on the guy's doorstep extremely early. He got into the building via the doorman and knocked on the apartment door without ringing any buzzers. He told him he was requesting he come to the station for questioning in relation to the murder of Lenard Duval, and if he didn't come quietly, Euan was going to arrest him. Putting the wind up the kid a bit would ensure his emotions were shaken and more likely to be completely honest, or fuck up his lies. Now Caleb was sitting in one of the interview rooms at the precinct and Euan came in with a folder. He didn't sit across from him, instead taking the seat beside him. "When was the last time ya' saw Zoran's father?"
