Justin's taken me off his friends list. I must have said something really bad to piss him off today without realising. Damnit :( Thought I actually had a cool friend for a minute there.

Who: Mark Campbell with Justin
What: Painful cycle
Where: Home
When: Early Friday morning
Mark had been feeling like he had been hit by an emotional truck. Everything else up to this moment felt like it was child's play. It the movies, there was always this climatic moment of suspense, where one tiny little thing could mean the difference between the character having a happy ending or losing everything. That was how Mark felt after the night before.
Justin's mood had escalated really quickly. Or declined was probably the more accurate description. It had been so easy for them to be lulled into a false sense of security, because Justin had been doing better. He wasn't distinctly happy, but he had been content and coping with what life had dished up on his plate. Mark had been spending a lot of time with him, and they were getting to the point there they would set the date for Justin to go back to school within a couple of weeks. As to his condition, Nathan had been monitoring Justin closely with constant adjustments to his medication, which Mark had been extremely grateful for. Justin trusted Nathan, so that was vital, but Nathan had revealed to Mark his own personal issues right now with dealing with Tyler, whom Nathan reunited with, and who also had a serious mental illness. In that sense, it was why Nathan wanted to continue managing Justin's case... he didn't want Justin to get to the point Tyler had done.
( Just when it had seemed like Justin's medications might be working like they should, this happened... )

Who: Darcy Kline and Riley Bryant
What: Fag Hag Intervention (again)
Where: Mount Sinai Hospital
When: Thursday night
Darcy knew that if she waited around for Grayson to tell her anything as to Riley, she might have false teeth and two artificial hips by the time he got around to it. If he wasn't going to talk to Jules about it, she would probably be well down on the pecking order. So, she was going to take matters into her own hands. It was just fortunate that she had a reason to be killing some time waiting nearby the Emergency Room. She was sitting at the edge of the waiting area, patiently biding her time reading some emails on her iPhone. She had been at work all day working on reports from her tour and she was looking forward to relaxing tonight with some fantastic company.
But alas, said company got tied up right at the end of his shift and was apologising to her profusely when she told him she was fine to wait. It might be a hospital, but there was something that made her feel safe here. She knew that beyond the walls of this waiting area, there was a lot of sickness, pain, and sadness. A tiny part of her was glad she hadn't seen Julian at his worst, because she wasn't sure she could take it.
( It was over half an hour later before the person she was hoping to see was coming up the corridor, freshly showered, still looking as hot as ever, and digging around in the side pocket of his bag for what she knew was a packet of cigarettes... )

Who: Riley Bryant and Grayson Quinn
What: Rethinking the equation
Where: Riley's apartment
When: Late Friday morning
Riley inadvertently followed Darcy's advice without even needing to think on it. By the time he got home after his tough shift the evening before, he was dead on his feet. He had smoked nearly a half a pack of cigarettes on the walk home too, just because his thoughts had distracted him so much. Grayson had been lying in bed channel surfing the TV when Riley had gotten home. He knew he should have stuck up the necessary conversation at that point, but after taking his pile of pills in the bathroom, brushing his teeth, peeling off his clothing down to his boxers and climbing into bed with Grayson, he had crashed out as soon as his head hit the pillow. God only knew what Grayson thought of that, and for all Riley knew, he probably snored with how tired he was.
And he slept until nearly 11am that morning too. It would have been longer if Gray hadn't woken him up and told him that Lachlan's mum was there with RJ. She and her husband were spending time at the hospital with their son so he wasn't there alone, which is why RJ was being babysat by Riley. The good thing was, Riley now had a few days off, so Grayson had let him sleep right up until the wee one was delivered, much to Riley's horror. He was usually so organised and had panicked a bit once he woke up and realised how late he had slept. That was when they realised they didn't actually have any appropriate food in the house for the child to eat, and considering he was diabetic, they couldn't just make-do. Riley grabbed his keys to hit the grocery store a few blocks away when Grayson insisted he could watch RJ for the short while.
When Riley arrived home with the bags of groceries, he was met with the scene of Grayson sitting on the sofa with the wee boy in cuddled in his arms. RJ had an arm looped around Grayson's neck and his head on Grayson's shoulder. Grayson also had a couple of towels strategically covering the sofa cushions around him and Riley blinked in surprise. Grayson looked at ease, like he actually belonged nursing a child and it was a sobering moment for Riley. "Hey," he greeted them both quietly. "Everything okay?"
