Who: Julian Beaumont and Carmen Mitchell
What: Friends catching up
Where: Trauma Unit, Mount Sinai
When: The day after receiving Harley's gift
It was probably the weirdest thing in the fucking world for the heir of a multi-millionaire to be sitting with a teddy bear stuck down inside his sling, but here was Julian doing just that. He did have a reason, though. He initially had it sitting on the table beside the bed, but he had looked at it so much, his neck really started to hurt. He then put it on the bed beside him, but every time the nurse came to help him pee or check things over, the bear fell on the floor and in his emotionally worn state, he had snapped at the nurse who caused it, calling her stupid, and then embarrassingly burst into tears for snapping at her for no reason. Luckily, she was a kind, very experienced nurse with many years under her belt, and she reassured him right away that it was okay.
This was the only option, and now he had a stuffed bear's face sticking out the end of his sling so he could keep it near him without causing himself anxiety levels of stress over a toy. Both his dad and Harley's mom had been visiting a little while ago, and they even chatted between them about London. They were gone now, and Julian was left with a still sleeping Harley. Again, for about the millionth time since Harley took a turn for the worst, Julian looked over at him with a confused frown furrowing his forehead. Harley was looking seriously worse for wear now. His complexion was already pale because he was blonde and very fair, but his face was almost starkly white against the sheets and he had heavy dark smudges under his eyes. He still looked better than Julian right now, though. Julian's bruises were at about a peak in garish purple and red smudges all over him, some of the lesser ones beginning to yellow around the edges. He still had the bandage around his head too that wasn't going to win him any awards for most fashionable bachelor this year.
That was when there was a knock at the door and Julian was still looking at Harley when the visitor came in. He looked at Carmen when she approached his bed with the troubled frown still there. "Oh... hey." It wasn't exactly the most welcoming of greetings, but his mind wasn't in being hospitable lately. He was lucky to remember who his friends were, really. The doctor had made it clear he was fortunate that his memory loss only surrounded the actual event.
