When: Later in the day to
thisRhys was pretty sure he was
too nice a guy sometimes. This being one of the times, when he was somehow sitting in the passenger's seat of Kyan's car driving up to Woodstock on the spur of the moment. He wanted to buy another car to replace this one with, and it had to not only be a good deal, but a decent reliable motor. Kyan made frequent trips with Autumn up to see her mother in Massachusetts, and he had racked up a lot of miles on this one. Apparently he found a good deal in Woodstock, but he needed someone to go up with him to drive this car back if he decided to make the purchase. Trey had been going to do it, but he had to go into work for some overtime with some important case or another.
Rhys didn't actually have anything to do until he met with Miles later. He agreed to do the favour for Kyan, because was one of the kindest guys in the whole world and it would be repaid someday, but Rhys warned him that he wasn't good company that day. He had been trying to get himself out of the funk, and shake off the hurt he had been feeling, but it was proving to be more difficult than he hoped. Kyan was sweet. He didn't try to engage Rhys in any chatting. They just hiked up the music and hit the road. It wasn't a short drive. Closer to two hours each way, but it was better than sitting around home and dwelling on his feelings. Miles asked him for tonight, he agreed. Tomorrow, he still had plans to fly to LA to visit his parents. He needed a breather to get his head together.
It was afternoon when they arrived, and they pulled into a driveway that was long and winding, up into a wooded area. This last part of the drive, Rhys had fallen asleep with his head resting against the window and now that he woke, he had a stiff neck and tried to stretch it out a little. "This the place?" he asked, rubbing his eyes and checking his watch for the time.
"Looks like it. It's what the GPS says. Want to come check the car out with me?" Kyan asked as he parked in the drive and switched it off. "Cosy place. I'd love to own a house like this one day. So secluded and peaceful, far, far away from the city."
Rhys nodded and got out of the car with Kyan, stretching again. "The city's claustrophobic sometimes. No doubt about that." He followed Kyan up the walk to the beautiful little cabin. He couldn't really see any cars parks around, so it must be off tucked away in a garage in some other corner of the property. Mostly, Rhys just wanted to get this over with so he could head home again, whether it was with Kyan or alone if he bought the car. Kyan knocked on the door, and they waited for an answer. Rhys stuffed his hands into his pockets. It was fucking freezing up here.
That was when the door opened, and Rhys got the absolute fucking shock of his life, pretty sure he wasn't far off crapping himself, when he saw it was Miles who answered the door. "Wh--" he squeaked, trying to form a word or two, something that resembled a sentence. Instead, he just stood there and gaped.
