Nick knew his body, and Jeff wasn't going to push him to hurry if he felt okay with taking a few minutes to test his blood sugar apparently. That made sense, as Jeff had done a little bit of research before he'd heard back from Nick about hypos and what they could entail. Nick looked the worse for wear, and Jeff was nervous, but he wasn't going to tell Nick how to suck eggs when it came to his own body. Jeff moved over to take a seat next to Nick on the couch, noting how shaky his hands were when he raised the cup to take a sip of water. "It's okay," he replied, once he'd settled into the couch. "I'm not going anywhere." He gave Nick a small smile of comfort as they sat there together, Nick waiting for the reading from his glucose meter. Jeff didn't want to just sit there like a lump, so after a moment, he very carefully rested his hand on Nick's back. The tight-fitting tank top he wore was clinging to him, and Jeff's hand rubbed gentle circles against his back. He knew there wasn't much he could do here, but he could offer comfort at the very least.
"Do these just hit you out of nowhere?" he asked softly, not really fully understanding the ins and outs of Nick's condition, but knowing that it was important for him to figure it out if he wanted to be a more consistent part of Nick's life. Which he did. He very much did. Things were just starting, but Jeff really liked Nick, and more than that, he wanted to get to know him better and understand where he was coming from in life... including his diabetes. "Or is it more something you kind of know is coming? Sorry if I'm being nosy. Or if you don't want to answer questions when you're not feeling well, I can wait until later." His tone was soft and gentle as he sat there next to Nick.
