No. A lot more than just dancing. I just need to know if you're interested in a professional performing gig before I tell you anything about it. If you're not, it's not important.

Of course I'd be interested. The veterinary thing was just what worked out at the time, but I love performing.

I know of an understudy role opening up on Broadway. The auditions are this weekend.

Seriously? An understudy on Broadway? That's crazy! Hey, I can try out. If I don't get it, no problem, but if I do, that would be incredible.

What's the show?

This is where shit gets real. It's Justin's understudy in Footloose... and he's going to be at the auditions. His understudy just got signed as Johnny Castle in a reprisal of Dirty Dancing on Broadway.

Whoa... that's huge. And kind of scary. But I'd love to give it a try. Nick said maybe I should get to know Justin anyway. That it might be beneficial.

You probably won't get near him to know him at the auditions because he's not in the best headspace at the moment, but he'll be having artistic say on who gets a second audition, which is where you'll work with him. It's being kept hush and open to only certain people so Caden's not overrun with fans wanting to meet Justin, but I can get your name put on the list.

That's okay. If I get a second audition, then I'll talk to him. If not, I'm sure when he's a bit better, I can get an introduction later on. That would be awesome, Logan. You're the best.

I'm just making sure it's what you want because there's a chance Justin might put you through your paces if he decides you've got a chance. You could probably spend some time with Kyan. He's the current understudy. Actually, the reason I know all this is because I was offered the job as Principal Choreographer for Dirty Dancing.

I don't mind being put through the paces. It's a huge deal to do a Broadway show, even as an understudy. I'd like to spend time with both of them to figure out more about the role.

Kyan's nice. He's, well... basically polar opposite to you.

Yeah. I can't deny that. That's okay, though. I still think I can do the job if they want me for it.

It will only boil down to whether you've got the ability to do it. Plus, Kyan's very understanding and flexible. Justin can sometimes be knocked out of a show at last minute, and for a long time. It's rigorous.

I'm not afraid of performing, or the hard work required to do it any time. I know the understudy in Footloose probably puts in a lot of extra work compared to some other understudies, but that's fine with me. It would be the experience of a lifetime.

I think he does on some level. He did the two Sunday shows the other week hungover. Which was Kyle's fault. I just more think rather than being a simple understudy, Kyan is more like Justin's right hand man. Justin knows if he is sick, Kyan will hold the show. That's a deeper trust you and Justin will needed to develop together.

Your husband got the new star of Dirty Dancing drunk. That sort of doesn't surprise me at all. I'm more than willing to go that extra level. I know it will take time, but I'm willing to put in the hard yards. If you can get me on the list, that would be awesome, Logan. I owe you one.

I offered to take Kyan out for a drink to celebrate him getting the role. His brother just had his appendix out and his sister was away, so I thought he might just need a shout-out. Then a pile of Kyle's mates were there, and it got real, real fast. Kyan didn't think he would have to perform the next day. Caden pay his cast members exceptionally well. Probably near double what you'd get working in a vet's office.

The guys from the team? I partied with those dudes a couple times, and I couldn't even hang. And I'm ME! I could definitely use the extra money. Maybe get a little nicer apartment.

I was so fucking sick the next morning. I haven't felt that bad in a long time. I have no idea how Kyan did two shows the next day. Caden's a nice guy, you'll like him. On the face of it, he appears to be Mr Cool Suave Collected Rich Expensive Person, but he's lovely.

I can only imagine. Kyle and his teammates don't play games when it comes to boozing up. I don't party like that anymore after finding out about my migraines, but when I partied with them before, I felt like my eyeballs were going to explode. That's good. Working for good bosses is always a good place to start.

Kyan spent most of the night on Espresso Martinis. No wonder he barfed on his GF's mom's shoes the next day. You okay with it having a tongue-in-cheek reputation for being a jinxed production?

Oh, Christ. Awkward moment. That would be pretty major fail. I hope I don't barf on Nick's mom's shoes if I ever get to meet her. I don't believe in jinxes.

Nick's got a huge family. His mom's probably used to shoe-barf. Besides, his folks and siblings live in Florida. They grew up in the same street as the Greshams.

That's a whole lot of "It's a Small World After All..." going on. But it's kind of cool. I still hope not to be the giver of shoe-barf.

I guess that happens when you have a huge family from a couple of different countries. I hear he's related to Euan. Hey, I barfed multiple times in front of a famous rockstar, so it could be worse fabulous.

Euan? Fitzpatrick? The police captain? He's a good guy, but he'd probably be really scary in the right circumstances. Okay, rockstar puke is fail.

That's him. He's just gotten over cancer. Had to take the desk job. Euan's scary in most circumstances if you fuck him or anyone he cares about over. Nick's probably much the same. It was. So much timezone hopping, you get wrecked and wear yourself thin.

When I went and talked to him, he was really nice to me, but I was helping with an investigation, not hurting anybody. Yeah, I think that's what happened with Nick, too. His little nephew was sick, and he caught the bug because his system was wiped out from timezone jumping.

No, he's a great guy. Very wise, but sees through bullshit, and won't take any bullshit. Pretty sure he's seen and done things most people wouldn't handle without needing to be locked in a padded cell. His parents were killed in the London Bombings. I heard that. If you get sick when you have diabetes, your body isn't retaining the stuff you need to keep your blood sugar stable. Lachlan told me.

The world needs more people who see through the bullshit, no doubt. That's horrible... I can't imagine what that must've been like for him. It was really scary. He passed out right in the middle of the floor.

They do. And possibly to delete people who cause it from existence. His nephew was there and saw it happen. He's a nice guy too, Corey. He has depression because of it. Yep, that sometimes can happen. Their bodies can just go haywire.

I have no doubt Euan would do that if necessary. I would imagine seeing your grandparents killed would be sure to bring on depression. That's kind of what happened. Nick said it was probably the mix of Benny's tummy bug, and his own jet lag.
