Your body fought off cancer, babe. Immunity to bugs of doom hasn't really been its priority for a while. It's not a pain in the ass. I like being able to stay close when you're not feeling great. I want to be that person.

Aren't these sorts of things supposed to be the big relationship tests? You don't think it's too soon?

I don't. I'm not afraid of big relationship tests with you, believe it or not.

I just don't want to push you into anything too soon. I know you need time. You're still grieving.

You're not pushing me into anything, Dave. I am still grieving, but my mom would want me to hold on like hell to the things that make me happy in life, and you've become one of those things.

I just want you to know something. If I ever did get seriously sick again, I'd understand if you couldn't deal with it very well.

I'd be upset, scared, and heartbroken, yes. I wouldn't deal with it well, but I'd still want to be with you and care for you, Dave. I mean that.

Hopefully we never have to find out.

Agreed. But I want you to know something, too. I'm in this thing. We've taken it slow, and gotten to know each other, and I couldn't be happier with the person you are and with our relationship and how it's developing.

I just wanted to give you an exit route if you needed it. There wouldn't be any hard feelings.

I totally get why you're saying this, and I'm not going to be one of those crazy chicks who goes on a rant about how you probably want to break up with me anyway, because I know that's not the case. I'm just going to say that, healthy or sick, I'm with you.
