The papers are all drawn up. You guys just need to sign. I can lodge an application for expediting the process, on the grounds he has been displaced for so long and suffered child abuse.

You'll have a handover process where they come and further assess your house, and Tanner will likely be prescribed some child psychology. Even though a lot of adoptive parents think this is some sort of blight on your ability to parent, it is actually a very wise thing to do with a baby who has had trauma. They will work with him to help him develop around the trauma issues so he has his best chance of growing up healthy and happy.

That makes perfect sense... especially after the things he's been through, and how he's been passed from place to place. We want the best for him, and we're certainly not going to take it he wrong way that they want to put things in place to help him along.

The most important thing for you both to do is legally apply for his medical records and discuss his medical treatment with all his doctors. That baton gets passed over to you guys, and because he has an illness, you never know when he might need invasive treatment. Those are all the decisions you guys make together now.
