"We are family."
Who: Jesse Hartley and Casey MacDonald
What: Brothers
Where: Cohasset, MA
When: Late night after THIS
Things had been crazy, to say the least. The decision to go to Cohasset turned out to be for the best, though. Jace knew Jesse wouldn't have gone through with any of this if he had been left to have too much time to think it over. It was strike while the iron was hot, or not at all. What had turned out happening was that Mrs MacDonald had invited Jesse and Jace to stay with them for a couple of nights so they could have plenty of time to get to know each other. It would also give Jesse some time to convalesce and adjust to all this. She had truly been amazing with the news. Shocked, understandably, but both Jesse and Jace were taken under her wing once the news sunk in for her.
She even invited Jace's Nana to stay so they could talk more together while 'the kids' got to know each other better. No doubt, Nana was filling her in on the more deep parts of all this, namely Jace's disability and more about their epilepsy. Nana would have wanted to scope the scene out to be sure what was happening was in Jesse and Jace's best interests because stress wasn't good for them.
They had spent some time together and watched one of the family movies. It was enough for Jesse, though. It was an emotional onslaught for him, seeing his biological father for the first time. He had felt very tired after and both he and Jace went to lie down. Jesse crashed out hard and Jace soon followed soon. It was just after midnight now, and Jesse had woken up with Jace wrapped protectively around him, fast asleep. He had extracted himself from the brace very carefully so he didn't wake Jace really quickly. Jace needed time to adjust to being woken or he got very disoriented and panicked. Just another thing to be aware of when you were around Jace.
But Jesse needed to go to the bathroom and that meant he was going to need Jace's help. He was just holding off as long as he could, because Jace was sleeping so soundly nestled in the warm covers with his feet sticking out the bottom. It was a foreign room and a strange house. Jesse was out of sorts, but he was appreciative of how everything had gone down. He sat on the side of the bed and rubbed his hands over his face tiredly. This was really going to take an adjustment period.
