Jace felt Jesse fold a little heavier in against him. He was watching his husband intently, waiting for him to say something, but it wasn't going to happen. Jesse just looked more pale than when they set off from New York, and he could see in Jesse's face that nothing was processing here how it should be. This was one of those times when he needed to be stronger than Jesse to help him, for better or worse. That was what marriage was. Jesse had been there for him so, so much in the last year or so. Now Jesse needed him to be the strong one. He softly rubbed Jesse's hip where his hand was securely around his waist. He, too, was stunned as all fuck here. They were miles and miles away from New York City. How the fuck was Autumn answering the door. Jace knew her, but only just. She had been chatting to him on and off online about the possibility of him designing a tattoo for her, and he had met with her once in person. But this wasn't making any sense...

"Um... we..." Jace began hesitantly. There had to be a mistake, but holy fuck did it suddenly hit him that Autumn's surname was MacDonald. She just used Autumn Mac as her stage name, but on Facebook, she was Autumn MacDonald. Jace had this cold feeling sweep down his back, like someone tipped ice water down it. "D-Does a guy called Daniel MacDonald live here? We're looking for Daniel MacDonald. It's a, um... it's a long story. This is going to be a serious fucking mindfuck if you're related to him. And this is going to sound a little rude and forward without giving you a chance to offer an invite, but do you think we could get Jesse somewhere to sit down? He's been in hospital, he's not well."
