"There is nothing for me but to love you, and the way you look tonight."
Who: Reecy Chester-Wilson and Kyan Wilson
What: Wedding Night!
Where: Sydney, Australia
When: After this
Reecy was there with quite possibly one of the most amazing views in the world, but she hadn’t been taking notice of it for ages. Instead, she was standing out on the balcony of a five-star suite that looked directly onto the Sydney Opera House scrolling through hundreds of photos on her phone. She was in nothing but one of Kyan’s t-shirts, long enough on her to be like a short dress. It was a clear night and the weather was still so warm, even if it was well past midnight. For Sydney, it was apparently still early because from where she was standing, she could still see people walking around the foreshore between the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. When she first came out, she just stood there with the soft sea breeze on her face that was sweeping her loose hair back from her face while she drank in the view.
There wasn’t a single photo she didn’t love. All the people she loved the most in this world surrounding them. Everyone had taken their own set of photos, but they also had a photographer who was an old family friend of the Campbells who had uploaded every single snap for them to Google Drive so they could have immediate access in the meantime until their official wedding album arrived. She knew she would be getting every single one printed, even if they filled a hundred photo albums. For one sole reason - she didn’t think it was possible to be this happy. Today had proven her wrong. It had taken all her doubts, tossed them into the air, letting them scatter, unforgotten.
She looked at the diamond wedding band on her finger nestled in against her engagement ring, that had previously belonged to Kyan’s mom. They had been doing a lot of soul-searching together in recent months since they started dating and it had led to Kyan wanting to give her his mom’s engagement ring, from a time long ago when she was happily married and Kyan and Trey were babies. She left the ring to Kyan when she passed away and because Reecy shared some qualities with her, Kyan wanted her to have it when he proposed to her. It was the most cherished thing Reecy ever owned, knowing the past behind it and why it was so special.
Lost in her own little world, thinking about how much life had changed recently, Reecy didn’t notice that Kyan had come out onto the balcony with her until he was wrapping his arms around her waist from behind, kissing her temple with a smile. “What are you doing up, beautiful? You were out like a light,” she murmured, smiling at him over her shoulder. She leaned into him, nuzzling her face against his. After the dinner with the guests at their ‘micro wedding’ celebration, they finally made their way back to their hotel room and made love into the early hours of the morning.
For Reecy, there was no denying that it was the most passionate night of sex she ever had in her life. All the emotions and happiness that came with tying the knot with Kyan were put into it and she just happened to have married one of the kings of the multiple-o. Kyan was the most attentive lover and his skills drove her wild. He was also perfect, as far as she was concerned. Not that the physical or looks were what mattered most, but he was tall, sexy, had an incredible body, and knew how to use his lips, tongue, fingers and dick to expert levels. Their marriage was well and truly thoroughly consummated.
It had been a long day, though. It may have been a micro-wedding with limited planning and a lot of playing it by ear and keeping it simple, but no one was going to let her away with not having the traditional wedding day she knew she would appreciate for the rest of her life. Winston was her Best Man and Trey had been Kyan’s, but other than that, they didn’t do the traditional wedding party thing. She knew if they had opted for a general wedding, the stress of planning would have gotten to her. She was nowhere near the realms of being a bridezilla and she knew Kyan didn’t want to repeat that experience again that happened in his previous relationship. This micro-wedding suited them both perfectly. And earlier in the day, surrounded by Winston, Romeo, Justin, Sasha, Fin and Shannon, she still had the funnest, happiest, hilarious pre-wedding morning she could ever have hoped for. She loved being surrounded by her boys, but being all boys with some sassy gay bitches in the mix, they made sure her day was special.
The actual wedding took place on the top deck of a beautiful intimate cruise boat as they sailed around Sydney Harbour with a backdrop of views of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. The weather was perfect, not a cloud in the sky. A few days prior, Reecy had flown to another Australian state with Gen to meet her favourite wedding dress designer, Paolo Sebastian, who designed these incredible lines of fairy tale fantastical stunning gowns. Gen and Paris had the connections and managed to pull strings for Reecy to get a personal meeting with him where she handpicked a wedding dress for her special day.
Reecy was never going to have been a traditional fluffy white bride. She loved this designer for the pure and simple reason his designs bucked those traditions and were all so beautifully unique. She chose a blue sheer gown that hugged her figure and it was coupled with a gorgeous tiara, chandelier earrings, and the most gorgeous pair of crystal heels she had ever seen. She didn’t buy into the whole princess concept, but it was definitely the most beautiful and glamorous she had ever felt in her life.
The ceremony was simple and straightforward. Her dad walked her down the aisle and as soon as she saw that he had happy tears, she started crying too. They had been through a lot as a family, as had Kyan with his family. To have it all come a full circle and climax with this, there was no other way she would have wanted to do it. And now she was a married woman, something she was convinced would never be a thing in her life. It had happened quickly, but it still felt like the most right decision she made to-date. Nothing about being with Kyan felt wrong and even if the ultimate decisions had occured because of the adoption process she had been going through, and Kyan was now joining her in, she didn’t doubt their love and knew this was the right thing - for them. And that was all that mattered.
“You weren’t there when I woke up. Just wanted to make sure you were okay.” Kyan brushed her hair back so he could kiss her neck softly. He hadn’t been this relaxed in a very long time. The location was addictive because it felt so casual and chilled. You couldn’t deny the views had a special peaceful energy to it. What had been the best part for Kyan, though, was that he had the most beautiful bride in the world and they shared the day with the people who made their lives complete. Reecy had literally taken his breath away when he saw her in her wedding dress.
Of course, later it had driven him wild and he couldn’t get her out of it quick enough (apparently designers didn’t have the urgency of the wedding night in mind when they designed wedding dresses a groom had to try to figure out how to get off), but seeing her walking up the aisle to him with her dad, it just hit him how happy he was to have her. It had been loving comfort and support that brought them together as more than friends, but he truly thought she was one of the most beautiful people in the universe… and she was marrying him. The day was just so sweet, simple, and fun that he knew that this was exactly the way he was meant to make a huge step like this in his life. It felt like his mom was there with them too. “No doubts?”
“This is the best day of my life, sweetheart. Absolutely no doubts. I’m so happy. I can’t stop smiling. You were sleeping so soundly, I got up to go to the bathroom and didn’t want to disturb you getting back in. Then I couldn’t resist looking at all the photos. I’m still too excited to sleep!” Reecy brought up her favourite photo and showed him the screen. They were both laughing together, arms wrapped around each other. The breeze off the water had caught her hair and the Opera House was in the background with the sun just beginning to set behind them. They were laughing because Kyan made a joke about being glad his wedding nerves hadn’t given him the runs. And that was the thing about the day, there had been so many laughs. That was what it was all about. That was what gave life meaning. “I can’t believe it’s actually happened, and my brain has to catch up with everything, but now I know what everyone means when they say it was the best day of their lives. Unless, of course, they end up divorced when it all goes to shit when one of them turns out to be a cockhead, but that’s not us,” she joked, giving him a grin.
Kyan grinned back. “Well, I might’ve accidentally done the pull out and pass out on our wedding night, but I’m pretty sure neither of us are cockheads. And I think we’ve done well surviving exorcising cockheads from our lives. From now on, beautiful, I promise I’ll do whatever it takes to make sure you’re happy, loved and protected. Whatever is coming next for us, we’ve got it together…” That day, it felt like he had never been in love this much in his life. It was hard to explain, but it was this overwhelming sense of happiness that hit. Like, regardless of whatever life had thrown at him to-date, it was all leading here to the place he belonged. It was amusing to him that they had been friends so long and would never have anticipated this would be their destination, knowing their lives were spinning side-by-side but in different orbits. Everything lately was pointing them in the direction that this was right, finally this was how it was meant to be.
When Kyan’s reassurances came, Reecy knew they were, without a doubt, true and from his heart. She was someone who had a epic fuckton of false promises made to her in her life, along with false hope and false feelings. When she and Kyan slept together in Colorado on their publicity tour, the last thing she wanted in life was another relationship. So she thought. Turned out, all she didn’t want in her life was being lied to and bullshitted with fake promises and lipservice. She wasn’t an idiot. Far from it. She just gave too many chances to people who didn’t deserve them, but she knew she had learned from her mistakes. When it came to your happiness, you had to take control of it. No one person was going to hand it to you on a platter without you holding the reins on what you accept or don’t accept as sufficient. If you accepted the bullshit, that’s what you were telling yourself you deserved. She wouldn’t do that anymore, and the person standing right in front of her was proof of that. Just when she stopped looking and trying to force shit that wasn’t working, there he was. He had been right there the whole time, but their life had obscured the view with distractions.
When it happened, the feelings were so easy. There were no doubts, only her worry that it was too soon. Not for her, but for him. He was going through a rough time and he was still deep down grieving for his mom. But each other was exactly what they both needed and it had been incredible. They hadn’t had one argument or disagreement. Whenever they needed each other, they were there. Most of the time Reecy needed someone, she didn’t even need to ask. He was just there, because he knew she needed it. These rings on her finger now, they meant more to her than she could ever say. She was happy and falling in love with Kyan was the easiest thing she had done in her life. “The lucky thing is, my darling, that I happen to love watching you sleep as much as I love watching you go down on me,” she teased, running her hands up and down his sides. Hell, did he have a perfect body. “Does this mean you’re ready for a second round, or do you want to stand here with him and marvel at this amazing view and contemplate how wonderful life is?”
“How about both?” Kyan murmured and smiled before their lips met in another kiss. Still, he didn’t actually mean doing it right there on the balcony, because he wasn’t quite sure how visible things were from there and he would be mortified if they got spotted. But one then the other seemed like a good plan to him. He wrapped his arm around Reecy’s waist and took in the view she had been admiring. As famous as a view as it was, it was one of those sobering moments where you were reminded just how small you were in the world. Kyan always appreciated those moments. He knew there were many people out there who just complained, bitched and moaned all the time about how miserable or hard done by they were when really, they were incredibly fortunate and privileged. They just liked to complain because they liked the attention of being a professional victim. Everything else was too much effort to professional victims, like giving as much as you took, or remembering that you were in a position of fortune and privilege, so you had plenty of room to be compassionate and considerate to people who truly were challenged or suffering. It wasn’t just their wedding day, it was Christmas time and he always felt very deeply about these things at this time of year. “How lucky are we that we get to be here together on our wedding night, not a care in the world?”
Reecy was still caressing her fingers over his bare skin. She loved mapping out the plains of his bare body. She didn’t have to commit anything to memory anymore because she only had to close her eyes and she knew every inch of his body like it had been in her life forever. Truth was, she had always been a physically affectionate person and loved touching him. She loved everything about the fact he was okay that she was touchy-feely too. She had been surprised, too, when they started dating and publicly confirmed via PR that they were that Kyan had been easy with PDA. At joint appearances, he would hold her hand or happily take joint selfies with fans. He didn’t mind at all if interviewers asked about their relationship and was open and honest about the fact it took them by surprise, but they were enjoying taking their friendship to another level. She thought he would want to keep it all hushed or reserved. He might be an introvert and shy, but he definitely loved affection and romance as much as she did.
“You miss your mom,” she finally said because she knew that earlier, it wasn’t the right time. She wanted to ask him the night before if he was okay and coping okay with his mom’s absence, but they had been having so much fun hanging out for dinner and drinks with Trey, Brendan, Winston and Romeo. Those were special times too. But you could have special times and still feel a sadness. Not all sadness exhibited in tears and frowns. “When you came out of the bathroom at dinner, your eyes were red. Something about the song that came on. And I know you weren’t in there snorting coke or sticking your fingers down your throat. I’m sorry she couldn’t be with us today.” She put her hands on his cheeks and kissed the tip of his nose, resting their foreheads together.
Although he comment took him by surprise for a moment or two, Kyan closed his eyes with a soft laugh. “There I was thinking I did good on the clean-up job. It was one of her favourite songs. She was seriously one of the romantic people on earth. She just never wanted to get hurt again. But I wasn’t in there entirely alone bawling my eyes out and trying not to end up looking like a reject from The Walking Dead. Your dad came in to see if I was okay. He said all the right things I needed to hear. Then Trey came in and got upset too, so he was helping us both. Some people aren’t fans of their in-laws, but I know I lucked out. I really thought I’d be okay, but it just hit me. I was married and she wasn’t there to see it. But honestly, after that day with Sasha, she doesn’t feel as far away anymore. It was more the fact that she couldn’t get to meet you that got to me.”
“I feel like I have. I know that’s not the same, but I’ve managed to grill Trey just enough to compliment some of the pictures in your family photo albums to know that she was a lot like you in many ways. I know that neither of you looked like your dad. I know that Trey found a box of letters after your mom died from patients she helped. I know I read them one night when you were out and no nurse without a big heart would ever have touched patients in the way she did. No nurse without a big heart would’ve kept the thank you letters. I know you inherited that off her. Inherited your love of dance from her. Plus, you told me you got your sense of humour off her. She’s still in you and Trey in so many ways. I know it’s not the same, but she gave you life and now you want me to share it with you. We can add some of these photos to those albums. Keep the family tradition,” Reecy suggested and grabbed her phone again to find another of her favourites. She was as in the middle of Kyan and Trey, Trey was kissing her cheek and Kyan was laughing at the moment. It was right when Trey told her she was his favourite sister-in-law, but if she ever needed a divorce, to give him a call for family rates.
Kyan took the phone and grinned. It meant the world to him that Trey adored Reecy. Not just in a sense he was saying it because he thought it was what Kyan wanted to hear, but he genuinely got along like a house on fire with her. It helped that Reecy was extremely close to Brendan and had been since she worked on Footloose, but Trey hadn’t hesitated at all when Kyan told him they were dating, nor that he wanted to propose to her. It was actually Trey who suggested he use their mom’s diamond ring because he noticed too how similar her personality was to Reecy’s. Trey was gay, so he wouldn’t ever be proposing to a women himself and he knew their mom would love Kyan to give it to the lady he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. Kyan knew in that moment that he truly had Trey’s genuine and supportive blessing in taking his big step in his life, and Trey would be the first to tell him otherwise (which he had done with Kyan’s last relationship).
“I love you so much. I want to feel a million albums of memories with you, beautiful...” he told her and put the phone aside on the little table by the sunlouges. He lead her over to the nearest one so he could pull her down into his lap. He picked the kiss back up where it left off. He was definitely ready for a second round of their marriage consummation and his body wasn’t hiding the fact one little bit.

But one then the other seemed like a good plan to him. He wrapped his arm around Reecy’s waist and took in the view she had been admiring. As famous as a view as it was, it was one of those sobering moments where you were reminded just how small you were in the world. Kyan always appreciated those moments.
