"Bridge over troubled water."

Who: Darius Alexander and Brant Fox
What: Offering help
Where: Hotel in California
When: After this

Shit had hit the fan in the worst possible way, and Darius was literally aching inside for Hunter. He could feel the pressure in his chest of Hunter's aching heart. There wasn't a single fucking thing he could do to ease it for him either. Hunter was facing this for the second time in his life. There was no way Darius would let him fly back to California alone. In the process of getting sorted to leave the airport, Darius had been on the phone to Nick and Cheyne, asking if Brody could crash with them if he came back from Spring Break before Darius got home. Time was impossible to sort out at this point. No one knew what was going to happen with Cruz, or if he even had a chance of pulling through.

Darius knew Hunter was riddled with guilt and blaming himself because of the fight. He had still been shellshocked from the fight and witnessing Cruz falling off the wagon. He couldn't have anticipated this awful aftershock blow. Times like this, you sought what little comfort you could grasp onto. For Hunter, he wanted Cruz's things with him. Darius didn't need to know why because it wasn't important. It was probably to make sure they were safe, and he would have them if Cruz's condition improved. Or maybe he was scared it would get lost and not taken care of. It just didn't matter. Hunter arranged for Darius to go pick the things up from a nearby hotel from Cruz's bandmate, Brant.

It was a five star hotel, and Darius had little information on the whole situation. Apparently it was all tied up in red tape. The other bandmates had to be in shock. Hunter, ever the selfless guy, asked Darius if he could see if Brant needed someone to talk to about what happened. Debriefing was important, and Darius was trained in this sort of thing being a paramedic. He had lost count of the amount of suicide scenes, hits or misses, he had been called out to these days. It never got easier. The person who made the 911 call was always in a complete mess, understandably.

Just like at the hospital, there was extra security in place. But Brant knew Darius was coming, so Darius was able to be escorted up to his room by a staff member. Brant might not want to talk at all, and Darius would completely respect that. He would collect Cruz's things and go, but he wanted to help if he could. So, after pressing the buzzer at the door of the suite, he waited and wondered how the guy was holding up.
