Lewis felt cold and sick. He had come home just in time to catch Lorenzo before passed out holding holding Holly. He had dropped his phone, and although Lewis could never have guessed the catalyst for the fact Lorenzo was white as a ghost and blacking out, he had picked up the the phone once he realised there was still a call connected there. He spoke with the Superintendent, and the horrific news was relayed to him because Lorenzo was incapable of finishing the conversation. Lewis had to kneel there by the sofa, Holly on his hip, Lorenzo slumped on the sofa where he had managed to move him, and listen to the details of the incident at the women's prison.
He sent Clint a text straight away, telling him that he knew he hadn't been feeling well, but he really needed to get over there ASAP. But Lorenzo wasn't easy to rouse. At all. Lorenzo wasn't just white, but he seemed to be struggling to breathe. When he did come around, he was disoriented and his breathing was laboured. He was sweating and said he felt sick. The most terrifying part was, he said he had pains in the chest. Lewis called 911 immediately.
Lewis never knew that shock could actually cause a heart attack. It couldn't. Not in the classic sense of a heart attack. But it could cause something extremely similar that had come to be known in the medical world was 'Broken Heart Syndrome'. Lewis was standing there in the hospital corridor with Holly nursed protectively to his chest as he listened to Sam explain what was going on. It was called Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy or Stress-Induced Cardiomyopathy. It was very real, and could very much have killed Lorenzo if Lewis didn't act immediately.
Whilst waiting for the ambulance, Lewis called Clint. He didn't have the time to give Clint a chance to answer. He just said something was happening to Lorenzo and to come straight to the hospital. Lorenzo was still in the resus bay, but he had been stabilised and Sam had come to have him transferred to the Cardiac Unit. Thank fuck Sam was his doctor, because Lewis trusted Sam implicitly, knowing he was one of Justin's secondary carers. Lewis felt ill. The only thing stopping him falling to his knees and breaking down was Holly. He had to stay strong for Holly.
