"Don’t think I haven’t been through the same predicament."
Who: Beau Watson-Shaw and Zeke Wyatt
What: Dr. Yoda in da' house
Where: Pediatric Spinal Unit, Mount Sinai
When: Saturday morning
Of course Beau didn't mind at all helping a kid out who'd had cancer. That was the whole reason he did this job. He was still studying to specialise in Pediatric Oncology, even if it had been put on hold while he battled leukemia for a second time in his life. He had been gradually getting back on track, but Pediatric Oncology was where his heart was at. But yes, he had to try to go through puberty in the wake of chemotherapy so he knew all-too-well the challenges this Zeke kid was facing. Justin had called him up and explained the situation, and then got his new boyfriend (Beau had NO idea happened there, but he was so far behind the Eight Ball, it wasn't funny) to send him through a picture of the kid he was looking out for.
Beau finished his night shift and planned to see if he could find Zeke that morning before he went home to bed. Shannon was in the hospital. Beau knew that via Nate, who was his main doctor at the moment while Shannon was in serious but stable condition. He would remain that way until the spinal surgeon felt confident Shannon could be moved without risking permanent paralysis. Shannon was Zeke's cousin, so he was going to be emotionally wiped out as it was. That was okay. That was also something Beau was well-versed in handling.
Beau chatted with the girls at the desk for a few moments and then showed them Zeke's photo on his phone, seeing if the kid was around that morning. They directed him to one of the quieter waiting rooms at the end of the ward that had views over the park. Zeke was sitting in there alone, staring out the window. "Hey, buddy. Have I got a Zeke here? I'm Beau. Sasha put out a Batcall through Justin that you might need someone to have a bit of a on the QT chat?"
