When: Friday lunch
Paxton had checked his watch about 800 times in the last 45 minutes, and when he wasn't doing that, he was shooting off a string of worried texts. Today was his day off from his hotel concierge job, and he had arranged to have lunch with Liam at their favourite cafe. He told Liam he was happy to come meet him at his folks' place instead of going out, but Liam had said he wanted the fresh air and it would be nice to hang out at their old haunt. But he was late, and considering what had happened to his best friend recently, Pax was worried. He gave Liam the benefit of the doubt that he might just be late before immediately assuming the worst. He had just told himself he would give him two more minutes before he raised the alarm, when Liam finally came into the cafe, looking around for him.
He got up and went over to meet Liam near the entrance. "Hey," he said in concern, taking Liam's hand and then offered a hug. "Are you okay? I was getting worried. I was about to send out a search party consisting of not only all your family, but all mine, and maybe a good portion of Scotland Yard. You look tired," he noted. Liam had been looking tired since Paxton ran over to where Liam was staying with his parents when he first arrived in London. Maybe 'more tired' was a more accurate deduction. More tired or ill, maybe.
"Listen, love, if this is too much for you and you don't want to be out and about, I can take you home. We can still hang out there. You just don't have to people," he offered. The ball was always in Liam's court these days, and Paxton was okay with that. His best friend was a rape survivor, and now he had survived a suicide attempt. Paxton's needs paled in comparison to Liam's.
