I'm just tired. It's been a rough few days. I'm home, but I can't rest. Keep waiting for the pager to go off. I'll be okay, it's just the lay of the land with intensive case work. A little change. He's responding to the meds. Fever's dropping little by little and he's less tachycardic.

Let me take care of you for a little while then. Even carers deserve to be cared for. If you just need to sleep, you can. I'm closer to the hospital than your place. I can wake you if your pager goes off and you don't hear it. That's good, then? He'll be okay or is there permanent damage risked with something like this?

That sounds really nice, babe. Are you sure? Their biggest concern is the impact on him mentally, and also keeping the temperature down because hyperthermia can cause brain damage. Serotonin toxicity can cause severe agitation and delirium. They've been pumping him full of benzo to counteract both which they need to monitor extremely closely. He still could wake with both regardless, which could trigger a psychotic episode with his brain stressed so much. Then again, he might wake mentally sound too. The toxicity should resolve without long-term damage, though.

100% sure. That's what I'm here for. You need to get some rest. When did you last sleep? Shit. What do they do if that happens?

They'll sedate him straight away until his pathology stabilises again. They won't put him in danger. If it happens, I think it'll hit Sasha hard. Not a nice thing to witness. If you're talking more than broken naps, the night before this happened.

Harsh reality, though. The poor kid's brain chemistry is scrambled, and now his body chemistry is too. Aw, honey. Let me take care of you? I promise you, if you sleep through that pager, I'll wake you right up. Is there anything else I can do to help?

It is. It's always a harsh reality when a kid is sick. Okay, But this is why I do the job I do. I'm in your hands, love. You can make love to me. I need a bit of a distraction right now.

Yeah, he's such a lovely kid. He fights a war in his head as a lone soldier and it hasn't turned him into a cunt like a lot of others. He deserves a medal of honour. But the plain and simple of it is that he is really highly medicated to give him the best shot at 'normal' life for him as possible and he has drug sensitivities, so this is an unfortunate risk of complication that comes with that.
